A judgment unit judges the correlation of videos between fields from the difference between input interlace signal and a signal that lags behind input interlace signal by one field. The correlation among N-1 fields are compared with predetermined pattern, to determine whether the input interlace signal is reliably a telecine signal. An instruction signal that instructs interfield interpolation is output, if it is determined that interlace signal is telecine signal. |
