摘要 614,385. Heating buildings electrically. MOSSIN, G. B. Jan. 22, 1940, No. 1298. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1939. [Class 39 (iii)] Buildings are heated electrically by means of resistance wire, strip, sheet or foil 4 applied to the face of fibre board 3, the opposite face of which is applied to the wall 1 of a room. The heating element may be covered by tapestry, paper, coating, or veneer 5 before application of the board 3 to the wall. The fibre board carrying its resistance may also be applied to a floor or ceiling. The resistance may be in the form of comparatively large strips of metal foil, or of zigzag strips. The supply voltage may be transformed down to 35 volts, and the heater may operate at a temperature below 30‹ C. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the carrier sheet may be of asbestos cement, seaweed, glass wadding or cork, and the device may be -used as an independent heater. Alternatively, the resistances may be attached to a layer, or between two layers, of paper or cloth, which is then applied to the wall and may be coated with plaster. To control the heating, a thermal switch may be placed on the wall of a room to control the circuit or vary the voltage. Another thermostat may be subject only to the air of the room, and may control a damper or cooling device to ensure that the air temperature is below that of the walls, e.g., 14‹ C. and 22‹ C., respectively. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
