<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head cap and a head cover, which can be simply attached to/detached from a recording head, and which can be miniaturized by eliminating a protrusion. <P>SOLUTION: This head cap 10 covers a recording surface 3a of the recording head 1 so as to protect it. A box-shaped body 20 with an opened upper part is provided; on two outside surfaces 20a and 20b on the long sides of the body, two supporting pieces 21a, 21b, 22a and 22b are provided in prescribed positions in a longitudinal direction A, respectively; locking pieces 23a, 23b, 24a and 24b, which are provided along an outside surface from the approximate center of the outside surface to a corner part, are fixed to the respective supporting pieces; and locking pawls 25a, 25b, 26a and 26b for locking the recording head are provided at the corner part-side ends of the respective locking pieces.
