<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the staining of the backside of material to be transferred by a detection pattern image. <P>SOLUTION: A registration mark cleaner 70 is arranged on a more downstream side than a mark detecting device 64 and a more upstream side than a secondary transfer roll 28 in a conveying direction (direction shown by an arrow J) by an intermediate transfer belt 52. The registration mark detected by the mark detecting device 64 is removed from the intermediate transfer belt 52 by the registration mark cleaner 70. Thus, the registration mark is prevented from being transferred from the intermediate transfer belt 52 to the secondary transfer roll 28, and the staining of the backside of recording paper P by the registration mark is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
