<p>The waste gases gas and air, are supplied to a catalytic burner (3). If desired, a third gas including fuel, and/or water are supplied to the catalytic burner. The hydrogen content is oxidized catalytically, producing a waste gas from the burner. Hydrogen content and temperature of the burner waste gas are monitored. On departure from a given value, control is applied as required and/or the temperature of the catalytic burner is monitored and so controlled, that a desired temperature range is maintained.
