Antitheft device for steering column

The device (1) has a blocking unit i.e. bolt, for blocking a steering column, and an activating unit for activating the blocking unit. The activating unit has an endless screw (9) integrated to an output shaft (7a) of an electric motor (7). A driving wheel (11) drives the blocking unit. Elastic units move the wheel to a remote position in which the wheel is not driven by the motor in case of rupture of a support axle (13) of the wheel. The elastic units are formed of a thrust spring. Stop units e.g. teeth (23), are engaged with the wheel to lock the wheel in the remote position.
