<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of saving media to be recorded. <P>SOLUTION: When printing data is received in an automatic N in 1 mode, a CPU 54 detects how many pages that have page data size equal to or under a predetermined value are there, if there exist pages having page data size equal to or smaller than the predetermined value in the printing data, and also arithmetically calculates the ratio of the number of pages having the page data size equal to or smaller than the predetermined value to the number of all the pages which are required to be printed. When the number of pages, having the page data size equal to or smaller than the predetermined value is 50 to 69% of the number of all the pages, the mode is set to "2 in 1" printing; when the number of pages having the page data size equal to or under the predetermined value is 70 to 89% thereof, the mode is set to "4 in 1" printing; and when the number of pages having the page data size equal to or under the predetermined value is 90 to 100% thereof, the mode is set to "9 in 1" printing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
