The installation has a control unit (70) accessing a database (71, 72) comprising recipients, where printed materials are sent to the recipients. Primary conveyor lines (10) process the materials. A grouping conveyor line (50) and a distribution conveyor line (30) are controlled by the control unit. The control unit enables transfer of the materials to the grouping conveyor line by transfer devices and by the distribution conveyor line such that the materials arriving on the grouping conveyor line are grouped in an order that enables grouping by address and/or by recipient.
