When a header tank 1 is full, a valve 6 below the tank 1 is opened allowing water to flow onto the cups 5 of a water wheel 4 in a generating tank 3. The water wheel 4 drives an electricity generator 8. A valve 9 is opened allowing water to flow from the generating tank 3 into a piston chamber 13. When the piston chamber 13 is full, the valve 9 is closed and a hand lever 10 is operated to push a piston 14 along the piston chamber 13 forcing the water through a one-way valve 12 into a vertical tube 11 and back up to the header tank 1. The amount of water used in one minute to turn the wheel 4 is fed back into the system, keeping the level of water in the header tank steady. Power can be generated using local labour at economic cost and without the need to burn expensive fossil fuels. |
