PURPOSE: A delay line structures are provided to generate high brightness optical output with high electrical field density by generating a phase delay between applicator arms. CONSTITUTION: A light bulb comprises a filling mixture for generating optical output when excited by the microwave energy. At least two applicator arms combine the microwave energy with the filling mixture. At least two applicator arms are separated by at least one delay line. One or more delay line comprises the strip line structure.
