The apparatus (1) has a winch (8) supported by curved tubular half-frames (2, 3) with attachment members e.g. clevis (24), attached to a bar type tubular structure e.g. stanchion (34). The clevis places the winch above and in front of opening so as to block a head (T) of a breeding animal in height by passing a halter (43) around the head and by pulling the halter towards top using the winch. The frame has two curved tubular half-frames, where each half-frame is provided with bearing (14). The winch has a hub (18) in the form of bar with two ends that are rotatively mounted in the bearing.
