PURPOSE: A square can necking apparatus and a necking method are provided to improve quality by necking a square can without the deformation of the material of the neck portion. CONSTITUTION: A square can necking apparatus comprises a fixing shaft(100), a clamping unit(200), a guide unit(300), a rotating unit(400), a cam unit(500), and a pressing unit(600). The fixing shaft is elevated by the outer power. The clamping unit is inserted into the square can and is expanded to the outside to fix the end of the square can. The guide groove of the guide unit forms a square locus along the edge to correspond to the rim of the square can. The cam unit is rotated around the fixing shaft at different speed with a rotating unit. The top of the pressing unit is moved by the speed difference of the cam unit and the rotating unit.
