The unit (40) has a tube (42) permitting passing of a life line. The tube laterally retains a carrier (50) of a play structure. The carrier is provided with a housing for receiving the life line, and a side notch. A thin plate (43) cooperates with the notch to permit sliding of the carrier along the thin zone. A free space (E) is defined by opposite walls of a bracket (41) and the tube, and permits the passing of the carrier between the bracket and the tube. An independent claim is also included for a play structure comprising an armature.
