PURPOSE: A device and a method for communicating a timing reference signal via a power line are provided to supply a timing reference signal to all places to which a power signal is supplied without an additional facility. CONSTITUTION: A modulating unit(210) modulates a timing reference signal according to a power line communication protocol. A coupler(230) is connected to the modulating unit and the power line. The coupler separates a power signal and the modulated timing reference signal from the power line. The coupler outputs the modulated timing reference signal to the power line.
