PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a control range of a primary pressure regulating valve and a secondary pressure regulating valve to the minimum while suppressing power loss of an oil pump. SOLUTION: The control device of a continuously variable transmission includes a line pressure regulating valve 50 for generating a line pressure PL, the primary pressure regulating valve 60 for reducing pressure at a downstream side when the pressure is a prescribed value or more and generating a primary pressure Pp, the secondary pressure regulating valve 70 controlled by differential pressure between an upstream side and the downstream side and generating a secondary pressure Ps, and a transmission control unit 80 for controlling the line pressure regulating valve 50, the primary pressure regulating valve 60, and the secondary pressure regulating valve 70. The transmission control unit 80 sets a target primary pressure Pp and a target secondary pressure Ps by a vehicle state signal, and controls the line pressure regulating valve 50 so that either the target pressure Pp or the target pressure Ps, whichever is higher becomes the line pressure PL.
