PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a yeast having a mating ability from any yeast having no mating ability, particularly, to provide a method for producing a practical yeast having a mating ability from any practical yeast having no mating ability without the formation of haploid spores having a mating ability. SOLUTION: The method includes: expressing a gene for mating type switching in the cell of a yeast having no mating ability.
