PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a communication terminal device which simultaneously detects continuous signals and intermittent signals in order to deal with a number of exchanges, the detection being according to a maintenance-free dial tone detection scheme, and since the continuous signals and intermittent signals are simultaneously detected as dial tone signals, in the case where an exchange being connected is not available at present, the signals can not be distinguished from busy tone signals that are intermittent signal to be sent to a terminal side. SOLUTION: The communication terminal device includes a means for determining whether a dial tone signal is a continuous signal or an intermittent signal, and includes a means, when a dial tone of a line is a continuous signal and an intermittent signal is detected in signal detection prior to dialing, for handling the intermittent signal as a busy tone signal.
