摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial robot capable of maintaining accuracy in positioning of a robot, particularly an end effector thereof, and maintaining a high degree of flexibility in installation of the robot itself as well. SOLUTION: A horizontal articulated robot is provided with an extendable rotating shaft 20 linearly movable in a vertical direction with respect to a second arm 15. The extendable rotating shaft 20 is configured in the form of an extendable rod comprising a plurality of drawably connected telescopic casings 22, 23, and the inner casing 23 is provided with the end effector at its end portion 17. In the extendable rotating shaft 20, as the outer casing 22 receiving a driving force from a lift motor M4 is linearly moved with respect to the second arm 15, the inner casing 23 disposed inside the outer casing 22 is drivingly linked to be vertically moved in a direction same as the moving direction, thereby positioning the end effector.
