PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thiophene derivative having a good relative quantum yield and wide-range applicability. SOLUTION: The thiophene derivative is represented by formula (1), wherein X is an optionally substituted 6-20C aromatic or 1-20C aliphatic group; R1and R2are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-10C linear chain, branched chain or cyclic aliphatic group, or are bonded to each other to form a first heterocycle; R3and R4are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-10C linear chain, branched chain or cyclic aliphatic group, or are bonded to each other to form a second heterocycle; and b is an integer of 1-10; however, when all of R1, R2, R3and R4are each a hydrogen atom, X is not thiophene.
