PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerating device for transportation in which an A.C. motor is effectively used as a generator when driven by an engine. SOLUTION: The sub engine type refrigerating device for transportation has the driving engine 40 and the A.C. motor (A.C. generator) 50 dedicated to a drive source of a compressor 22 for sending out a refrigerant to circulate in a refrigerant circuit, and is configured to operate by selectively switching the driving engine 40 or the A.C. motor 50 in accordance with presence/absence of an external power source. The driving engine 40 and the compressor 22 are interconnected via a centrifugal clutch 41, and the compressor 22 and the A.C. motor 50 are interconnected via the driven side outer periphery of the centrifugal clutch 41 and a belt 51. During the operation of the compressor 22 by the driving engine 40, the A.C. motor 50 functions as a generator generating power by the rotating magnetic field, and the power generated by the A.C. motor 50 can be used by power supply adjustment.
