The purpose of this invention is to reduce current consumption during positioning of a GPS (Global Positioning System) terminal and prolong battery life. After a GPS terminal receives assist data from a network side, the GPS terminal sends a positioning result generated without using the assist data back thereto as a response and opens the session.
