LUMINOPHORES COMPRISING PLATINUM-LIGAND COMPLEXES

There are described platinum-ligand complexes comprising at least two types of ligands one of which comprises a bidentate donor ligand wherein the complexes have accessible triplet states and molecular structures that confer nematic and smectic phases liquid- crystal like properties. The figure shows the emission spectra of 2 compounds according to the present application in dichloromethane solution at 198 K (?ex = 400 nm) together with that of [Pt(ppy)(acac)] for comparison.
