The invention relates in one embodiment to a method of automatically adjusting the damping properties of a vehicle by means of a control algorithm. The adjustment is effected by providing the damping devices of the vehicle with damper settings defined by vehicle-related input parameters detected continuously by recording devices, e.g. sensors. The invention is characterised in that the control algorithm comprises one or more information packets comprising certain basic information. The basic information comprises at least: damper settings defined by a number of values referred to as status values, information associated with the input parameters or defining relevant input parameters for input, data values intended to be compared with the input parameters and one or more activation conditions for activating the information packets. The method of adjusting the damping properties comprises at least the stepsof:1.Continuously inputting the basic information from information packets P1-Pn..Retrieving input parameters DS11-DSnn from recording devices.Comparing data values DP11-DPnn with input parameters DS11-DSnn on the basis of the activation conditions U11-Unn.
