PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a path setting method capable of evading path setting failure even when a communication device present on a path is in a communication impossible state when setting the path, and the communication device using the method.

SOLUTION: The method is used for path setting by autonomous distributed control to a network to which a plurality of communication devices (NE200-NE206) are connected. One communication device (NE201) determines the propriety of communication with the communication device (NE203) adjacent to the one communication device, and when it is unfavorable to perform communication with the adjacent communication device, the setting signaling of the path (P1) passing through the adjacent communication device is changed to the setting signaling of a provisional path (P2) bypassing the adjacent communication device.
