The assembly has an eddy current brake with a primary part (5) and a secondary part (9). The relative position of the primary and secondary parts is adjusted for changing braking force acting on a carriage. An actuating lever (2) is provided at the carriage and is randomly actuatable by a driver of the carriage. The actuating lever is mechanically coupled with the eddy current brake in such a manner that the driver detects deceleration of the carriage by the change of the relative position of the primary and secondary parts.
