An absorbent article comprises a liquid-permeable front surface sheet, a liquid-impermeable back surface sheet, and an absorbing component disposed between the front surface sheet and the back surface sheet. A joining part for joining at least the front surface sheet and the absorbing component is formed in the absorbent article. The absorbing component comprises first regions, wherein the absorbent material that forms the absorbing component has a predetermined weight per unit area, and second regions, wherein the absorbent material has a lower weight per unit area than that in the first regions. The second regions extends in the lengthwise direction of the absorbent article, and is sandwiched between the first regions in the widthwise direction of the absorbent article. The joining part is formed in the second region.
