A video data recording device, wherein sufficient protection of privacy is received, even before the subject to be masked is firmly in the screen. The video data recording device (110) is provided with: a reference information storage unit (150) in which reference information including predetermined features is recorded; a video data acquisition unit which acquires video data and sequentially outputs the data to a video buffer; a similarity judgment unit (172) which compares the newest video data with reference information, and extracts, from the newest video data, partial information judged to be similar to the reference information; a relation judgment unit (174) which compares video data output to the video buffer before the newest video data to the partial information that had been judged to be similar, and extracts partial information judged to be related to the partial information that had been judged to be similar; and an image capture recording I/F unit (136) which stores, in a recording medium, the video data and the related information related to the partial information.
