<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a replacement unit and an image forming apparatus for reducing a distance between adjacent replacement units. <P>SOLUTION: When attaching an image forming unit 12 (replacement unit) to an apparatus body 10A, the image forming unit 12 is moved in the direction of arrow G. First, from the near side of a mounting direction of the image forming unit 12, a first guide pin 128 is introduced into a guide groove 134 through a tapered part 136 provided at the end of the guide groove 134. Following the first guide pin 128, a second guide pin 128 and a third guide pin 128 are introduced into the guide groove 134 as well. Thus, a means to guide the image forming unit 12 is only guide pin 128 protruding from a support plate.
