<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new polynucleotides and polypeptides imparting resistance to herbicides. <P>SOLUTION: New proteins are provided herein, including proteins catalyzing the acetylation of glyphosate and other structurally related proteins. Also there are provided new polynucleotides encoding these proteins, compositions that include one or more of these new proteins and/or polynucleotides, recombinant cells and transgenic plants comprising these new compounds, diversification methods relating the new compounds, and methods of using the compounds.
