PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a molded article having both excellent water absorption and decay resistance. SOLUTION: The method for producing a molded article includes mixing a pulverized bark (A) which has been surface activated with a surface activating substance (B) having cation substitution capacity of≥50 meq/100 g and a resin emulsion (C), and subsequently pressure forming the mixture, wherein the surface activating substance (B) preferably includes at least one selected from the group consisting of clay, silt, activated carbon powder, combustion ash, diatomaceous earth, and Kanuma soil.
