PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system using intercom cables, which ensures enough communication speed even for a slave device modem connected to a branch cable that branches at the terminal side of a main cable. SOLUTION: The communication system has a main cable 6 consisting of intercom cables, a communication network 5 that has a plurality of branch cables 7, each of which consists of the intercom cable that branches from a middle part of the main cable 6, a master device modem 8 connected to the beginning terminal of the main cable 6, a plurality of slave device modems 9 connected to the end terminal of each of the branch cables 7, and an upper impedance device 10 which is provided at near the branch point of the branch cables 7 to the main cable 6 and increases impedance to communication signals.
