PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that can output information that consumables are in need of replacement at a suitable timing according to the state of the printer. SOLUTION: A control section 10 acquires a basic service life value J<SB>0</SB>of a consumable supply as an initial value for a value J that is a criterion for replacement of the consumable supply (S3). Next, a variable Y is set to 1 (S4) and whether a Yth condition for a consumable supply X is satisfied or not is determined from a condition table (S5). A parameter from a coefficient table corresponding to the condition is multiplied to the value J (S6) when the condition is satisfied (S5:YES). Next, the variable Y is incremented (S7) and the process is returned to S5 when the Yth item exists in the condition table (S8:YES). Whether or not the individual number of printed sheets for the consumable supply exceeds the calculated value J is checked (S9) when the Yth item does not exist (S8:NO).
