PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To digitally compensate for an individual difference in resistance value between the heating elements of a thermal head. SOLUTION: In a method for forming an image on a medium 3 by use of the plurality of heating elements arranged in a line, at least one of the heating elements which form on-dots forms a main dot 51 and at least one of sub-dots 52a to 52d in series on the medium 3, each sub-dot being smaller than the main dot 51. The number of sub-dots 52a to 52d from which at least one is selected can be changed according to a difference in resistance value between the heating elements, the resistance value being the ability of each of the heating elements to form dot.
