PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processor device for an endoscope which makes a monitor simultaneously display a still image and a moving image of the inside of the body and to provide a method for driving the processor device, the processor device and the method contributing to the acceleration of an inspection. SOLUTION: Into the frame memory 41 of the processor device 11, an image of one frame are input according to freeze operation. The image is input to an image processing circuit 42 via a second switch circuit 40 switched to the side of the frame memory 41 under the control by a CPU 35 and subjected to image processing by the image processing circuit 42. The image after subjected to the image processing is stored in a moving image memory 45 via a third switch circuit 44, and temporarily displayed on the monitor 18 as the still image by a display control circuit 47. Thereafter, an image input from a terminal 38 is input to the moving image memory 45 and an image stored in the frame memory 41 is input to a still image memory 46.
