PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical leakage in a frame area of a liquid crystal display device with sufficient reliability. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: an image display area; a seal member SL; a light shielding film BMf which is formed on a surface on the side of liquid crystal of a second substrate and outside of the image display area; a drain signal line DL which is extended in the first direction; and a gate signal line GL which is extended in a second direction; a thin film transistor TFT; and a pixel electrode PX in an image display area of a first substrate, and on which bright display is performed in a state where an electric field is not applied between the pixel electrode and an opposite electrode CT, wherein the drain signal line is extended to an area which overlaps the light shielding film of the second substrate, two or more light shielding segments SHS are formed in the same layer as that of the drain signal line at about one of areas between the adjacent drain signal lines among the areas outside the image display area and inside the seal member, and an interval between the drain signal line and the light shielding segment and an interval between the adjacent light shielding segment are set to values of <30μm, respectively.
