METHOD FOR DETECTING SUBSTANCE IN BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE

Disclosed are: a method for detecting a substance in a biological sample; a carrier for use in the method; and a kit. The method comprises the following steps 1) to 4): 1) providing a carrier having a biotin-binding protein bound thereto, and a biotinylated protein comprising biotin and a protein capable of binding specifically to a substance to be detected and bound to biotin; 2) binding the biotinylated protein to the carrier provided in step 1) to produce a carrier having the biotinylated protein bound thereto; 3) adding the component (a) shown below and either one of the components (b-i) and (b-ii) shown below to the carrier having the biotinylated protein bound thereto prepared in step 2) and mixing the components and the carrier together; and 4) detecting the substance which has been bound specifically to the biotinylated protein: (a) a biological sample; (b-i) both a cell disruption extract which is prepared from a cell homogeneous to a host cell used for the expression of the biotin-binding protein and so on in step 1) and a biotin-binding protein; and (b-ii) a cell disruption extract prepared from a cell which is homogeneous to a host cell used for the expression of the biotin-binding protein and so on in step 1) and which has been so modified by a genetic engineering technology as to express the biotin-binding protein.
