PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute an accurate and efficient safety countermeasure processing when a condition of carrying out safety measure occurs during operation of a projection type video display. SOLUTION: A detection part 150 detects an intrusion object to at least a projection space. A control part 170 exercises safety processing milder than safety processing exercised when errors occur in the projection type video display 100 per se when the intrusion object is detected with the first detection part 150. For example, the control part 170 makes control so as to change over to projection of black images when the intrusion object is detected, and also makes control so as to maintain the state of the projection type video display excluding the change-over.
