PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head slider and a storage device that reduce damage and trouble occurrence in a storage medium. SOLUTION: The head slider 22 faces a surface of the storage medium 14. On a base surface 35 of a slider body 31, a groove 45 is formed between a contour of the base surface 35 along a contour of a rail 37. When dust 58 sticking, for example, on the surface of the storage medium 14 enters a gap between the base surface 35 and the surface of the recording medium 14, the dust 58 collides against a side surface of the rail 37 over the groove 45. The dust 58 when colliding is bounced by the side surface of the rail 37 along the surface of the storage medium 14. No large impact is applied by the dust 58 to the surface of the storage medium 14. Damage to a recording magnetic film of the storage medium 14 and generation of frictional heat due to contact with the surface of the storage medium are avoided. Trouble occurrence is reduced.
