PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcapsule type electrophoretic display panel that specifies breakage of a microcapsule in a microcapsule layer, which has rarely been detected until the panel is driven for display in post-processing, during manufacturing. SOLUTION: The microcapsule type electrophoretic display panel includes: a pair or a set of counter electrodes; an electrophoretic display layer provided between the electrodes. The electrophoretic display layer includes a layer formed by fixing the microcapsule containing dispersion liquid in which electrophoretic particles are dispersed into dispersion solvent by binder resin, and electron-donating colorless dye is dispersed or dissolved into the dispersion liquid in the microcapsule.
