The mechanism (1) has an adjustable body (3) with a sliding carriage (4), where the body is adjustably led at a fixed frame (2) and a supporting section (5) for a couch surface (6). Another supporting section (7) is bendably connected by the carriage. A shifting element (8) is fastened to the body and to the frame. A lifting element (9) is fastened to a rotational shaft (10) perpendicularly to a displacement direction (11) of the carriage at the bendable supporting section. The rotational shaft is arranged as a drive shaft (12) of the lifting element at a drive unit (13).
