The device (8) has a cleaner e.g. brush roller and cleaning cloth, positionable into a position for cleaning a cylinder and into a position turned out from the cylinder. A lifting device e.g. cam gear, lifts the cleaner cyclically away from a to-be-cleaned cylinder e.g. pneumatic cylinder (6). A control unit is provided at an adjacent cylinder e.g. blanket cylinder (5), and causes cyclic turning of the cleaner from the pneumatic cylinder depending on rotation of the blanket cylinder.
