PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a plurality of pan and/or tilt positions to reset a pan and/or tilt motor step count to a known count associated with a known location without the need to perform panning and/or tilting so as to pass a preselected home position. SOLUTION: Each time a position of a position sensor and a position of a home sensor 136 are detected, the difference between the required step count of a pan motor 25 at each of the positions and the step count of the pan motor is determined. Each time the position of the position sensor and the position of the home sensor are detected, the difference between the required step count and the motor step count is stored. The step count of the pan motor is reset to the required step count of the motor inside a complex programmable logic device in place of a microprocessor 102, thereby reducing delay error.
