PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile having an inexpensive airbag. SOLUTION: In the automobile, a built-in chamber 4 for housing an airbag 2 is demarcated by edge areas 7 of a Gleitrampe 6 and a roof lining 8; an upper end of a pillar trim 9 closer to the roof lining 8 is separated from a lower end 11 of the Gleitrampe 6 via a space 12; an end portion of the edge area 7 of the roof lining 8 is inserted in the space 12 and brought into contact with an upper end of the pillar trim 9; when the airbag 2 is deployed, the edge area 7 is pushed away in a cabin 5 by the airbag 2; and at least one protective element 15 is mounted on a lower area of the Gleitrampe 6, and is protruded into a built-in chamber 4 between the airbag 2 and the edge area 7 of the roof lining 8 in a waiting condition of the protective element 15. The protective element 15 when the airbag 2 is deployed, is bent inwardly toward the cabin 5 and downwardly by the airbag 2 so as to bridge the space 12, and brought into contact with an upper end of the pillar trim 9 from the inner side.
