PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out high-resolution printing of an achromatic color ink at a high speed. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus prints on the basis of output image data by performing color conversion of input image data in which the color of each pixel is expressed by a color vector of an input color space to the output image data in which each pixel has an ink amount related to a plurality of kinds of ink. The printing apparatus includes: a preliminary conversion means which converts the color vector to a scalar by a nonlinear function; a first color conversion means which converts the color vector to an achromatic color ink amount by referring to a first lookup table which regulates a corresponding relationship between the scalar and the achromatic color ink amount as the ink amount of the achromatic color ink; and a second color conversion means which converts the color vector to a chromatic color ink amount by referring to a second lookup table which regulates a corresponding relationship between the color vector and the chromatic color ink amount as the ink amount of a chromatic color ink.
