PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation imaging apparatus equipped with a radiation source held in an extending/contracting portion extended in the vertical direction, which is capable of correcting positional shifting between the radiation source and a radiation detection means by inclination of the extending/contracting portion. SOLUTION: The radiation imaging apparatus includes: a radiation source 16; a radiation detection means; an imaging element mounting portion on which the radiation source 16 is mounted; an extending/contracting portion, capable of extending and contracting in an almost vertical Z direction, for holding the imaging element mounting portion; horizontal movement driving sections 33, 43 for separately moving the extending/contracting portion in each of the X and Y directions and a vertical movement driving section 53 for extending and contracting the extending/contracting portion; and a vertical driving section, for extending and contracting the extending/contracting portion. The radiation imaging apparatus is equipped with: inclination angle sensors 95, 96 for detecting the inclination of the longitudinal axis of the extending/contracting portion with respect to the gravity direction; and a control means 30 for obtaining an amount of positional shifting of the radiation source 16 from a predetermined position, based on the inclination detected by the inclination angle sensors 95, 96, and the length of the extending/contracting portion and for driving at least one of the driving sections 33, 43, 53 so as to correct the positional shifting.
