Disclosed are a calibration indicator which is free of false detection in the calibration of an onboard camera, and a calibration method for an onboard camera using such a calibration indicator. The calibration indicator used for calibration of the onboard camera is comprised of a curved graphic formed by a curved line surrounding a predetermined region, and a linear graphic formed from at least two straight lines forming an intersection within the region surrounded by the curved graphic, said graphics being formed in the same plane. The region separated by the curved line forming the curved graphic and the straight lines forming the linear graphic is colored in a checkered pattern.
