The method involves positioning fiber reinforcement e.g. glass-reinforced fiber reinforcement, in a hollow container (4) on a tool i.e. balloon catheter, where the hollow container is made of metal. The tool is filled with a fluid, and gas and liquid is utilized as fluid. The fiber reinforcement is broadened, so that the fiber reinforcement is fixed on an inner wall of the hollow container. The expanded fiber reinforcement is reinforced. The tool is expanded through pressure on the fluid, and the fluid is heated up to a temperature for hardening the fiber reinforcement. An independent claim is also included for a profile element including a joining region.
