PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a POI icon of high importance and easily see a map to be displayed in a navigation apparatus having a function for displaying the POI icon for indicating a position of a facility on a screen of the map. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus includes a storing means 3 for storing map data including the POI icon and data of roads, a reading means 4a for reading the map data from the storing means, a display means 6 for displaying the map in accordance with the map data read by the reading means and a control means 4b for displaying the POI icon on the map displayed by the display means. The control means divides the displayed map by blocks surrounded by the roads and selects the predetermined number of POI icons for each of the blocks and outputs the POI icons to the display means.
