This invention relates to microporous membranes comprising polyolefm, the use of such membranes as battery separators, and methods for producing such microporous membranes. In particular, the invention relates to microporous membranes having a shutdown temperature in the range of 120.0°C to 130.0°C and a maximum solid state heat shrinkage = 30.0%.
