This invention relates to a reusable and portable communications device for receiving and transmitting data relating to patient usage of an electronic medicament delivery device. The electronic medicament delivery device preferably includes a supply of medicament, a medicament dispensing means, and a data gathering means for gathering data relating to patient usage of the electronic medicament delivery device. The communications device preferably includes a housing, with the housing able to be releasably fitted to the electronic medicament delivery device. There-may preferably be data collection means associated with the housing to receive the patient usage data from the electronic medicament delivery device, and a wireless communicator to enable the wireless transmission of the patient usage data. The invention may be particularly suitable for use with electronic medicament inhalers such as those used for the treatment of diabetes, or respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis.
